Violence at Howe Community Park Injures Multiple Gunshot Victims in the Arden-Arcade Section of Sacramento County

Law enforcement in Sacramento are probing a gunfire incident that erupted on April 18 2026 at Howe Park in Sacramento as deputies were breaking up a large unsanctioned party of multiple hundreds of people.

Prior to the Shooting

Sacramento County law enforcement first arrived at the park on Howe Avenue just after half past six in the evening after being notified of individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons. Following that, additional information came in regarding a potential altercation unfolding within the park grounds.

A law enforcement helicopter was sent to survey the area but was unable to locate the reported altercation. Despite this, it was evident that a crowd of several hundred had come together at the location without permission.

The Moment Gunfire Erupted

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies set about removing people from the park by setting up around the park's perimeter and broadcasting over loudspeakers commanding those gathered to vacate the area. Around 15 minutes were allowed for the crowd to leave.

It was during this dispersal that an estimated 20 to 25 shots rang out. The rapid succession of shots sent hundreds fleeing. Deputies wasted no time in searching for victims.

Four People Shot

In total, four individuals were identified as having gunshot wounds. The four individuals — a group of one female and three male victims each apparently in their twenties — were brought to nearby hospitals. Hospital staff reported that two of the four had injuries classified as immediate, one victim's injuries were classified as moderate, and one person's injuries were considered minor. In a positive development, all four were in stable condition.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department also responded and aided in treating shooting victims at the park.

Evidence at the Scene

The bulk of the shooting was confirmed to have unfolded on the Cottage Way side of the park close to the local Home Depot situated at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. CSI personnel found additional shell casings scattered along Cottage Way. Ballistic damage were discovered in the iron perimeter fence surrounding the nearby Home Depot. These discoveries indicated that a second shooter had been firing southward from along Cottage Way targeting the Home Depot. The Home Depot was secured under a brief lockdown as a precaution. Crime scene personnel remained on scene well into the night.

Suspect Vehicle Located

Intelligence received via scanner audio established that a Kia vehicle was pulled over in Solano County. Four occupants were taken into custody. Footage analyzed by investigators revealed that two shooters had been involved.
